Executives at L’Oreal Paris and the Karl Lagerfeld brand have unveiled a limited-edition beauty line.
The fashion world is still reeling from the loss of designer Karl Lagerfeld at the age of 85 in February, but in true Lagerfeld form, he left behind one final gift for his fans – a one-off make-up collection.
Announced by bosses at the companies in June, the range fuses together the couturier’s signature rock-chic aesthetic with Parisian elegance, and the accompanying campaign not only showcases the cosmetics, but also features some of Lagerfeld’s famous quotes.
Regarding the collection, Delphine Viguier, global brand president of L’Oreal Paris, commented that it was “particularly meaningful”.
“While Karl upturned the hierarchy of the landscape to democratise fashion, L’Oreal Paris is committed to making beauty according to women’s own rules and desires,” she shared. “We look forward to sharing with the world the make-up born from this creative connection: Karl Lagerfeld’s rock chic and L’Oreal Paris’ empowered vision of beauty.”
The range consists of six lipsticks, available in red, pink, and fuchsia shades, as well as two liquid liners, an eyeshadow palette, a mascara, and a powder highlighter.
“This line of make-up truly reflects the Karl Lagerfeld brand universe and what Karl loved in make-up – he often used eyeshadows as colours in his sketches,” added Caroline Lebar, head of image and communication at maison Karl Lagerfeld. “L’Oreal Paris has an inclusive message of beauty for all. Karl liked it when a collaboration resonated with his brand and would make a real impact to many people.”
The full Karl Lagerfeld x L’Oreal Paris make-up collection will be revealed on 20 September, with the global release to take place in conjunction with Paris Fashion Week on 27 September.
