Liza Soberano's camp denounces red-tagging

23 Oct – Liza Soberano's camp has recently denounced the actress' red-tagging by her bashers and critics alike, after the actress appeared on Gabriela Youth webinar to urge her fellow influencers to speak up on issues affecting women and children earlier this month.

As reported on ABS-CBN, on 22 October, Soberano's legal rep from Lim & Yutatco-Sze law firm released a statement regarding the issue, and expressed, "Expressing her love and respect for women and children is her personal advocacy."

"Ms. Soberano remains to be apolitical. She does not support nor antagonise any person's political views. The important point here is respect for others, a virtue she has conscientiously practised all her life."

"We, thus, call on everyone concerned to be circumspect in associating our client with their respective political beliefs, whatever it may be," the statement added.

It was back on 13 October that the actress spoke about her campaign against online exploitation of children as well as issues concerning women. However, she was accused of left-leaning and supporting the New People's Army for the fact that the speech was delivered at an online event organised by the youth arm of political party.
