Liza Soberano inspired to speak up
29 Sep – Liza Soberano admitted that she is more open to sharing her opinion nowadays compared to her past, after being inspired by others who stand up for themselves.
As reported on ABS-CBN, the actress who was never one to share her thoughts on political matters in the past, stated that she never felt comfortable about having others refute her opinion or express opposition against her viewpoints, that is until the pandemic started and everything went spiralling down in the Philippines.
"I think I've gained so much courage from seeing other people stand up for themselves that has inspired me to stand up for myself and for those people who cannot do so," she said, naming fellow celebrity Angel Locsin as one of her role models.
As to how she deals with her bashers, Soberano said that she will not let them silence her.
"Their aim is to silence me and if I give them that then they win. And we can't let them win. We got to keep voicing out opinions especially if we know we are on the right side. And I have to be the voice for the voiceless. I have to spark courage to the people who support me and look up to me," she stated.
Asked if she has ever considered becoming a politician herself, the actress responded, "No, I don't think so."
