Liverpool FC submit fresh plans for women's Melwood training ground
Liverpool have submitted fresh plans for their women's team's Melwood training ground.
The club bought back their old training ground this year after it had been sold to a housing developer in 2019.
Melwood is now used by Liverpool Women and the girls' academy. The men's team moved to a £50m facility in 2020.
Plans have now been sent to Liverpool City Council for the reinstallation of floodlights on three pitches and new signs to mark the club's return.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service the club's designs include plans to combine the training facility with the existing Robbie Fowler Academy on site.
The club also want permission for a portable cabin for use as a welfare facility for the academy and LFC Foundation.
Documents submitted as part of the planning application said: "Over a three-year period, the club has looked at more than 40 options to find a site for an elite training ground and academy that could sit alongside a community hub for its charitable arm, the LFC Foundation."
It added that the club has "carried out an extensive refurbishment of the grounds, particularly the three playing pitches, and building to facilitate the re-opening of the elite training centre for LFCW".
A date has not been set for the plans to be considered by the city council's planning department.
