Bobby Berk doesn't just beautifully outfit interiors, he designs entire communities of homes. The Queer Eye star recently put the finishing touches on his latest master-planned community with Tri Pointe Homes, a home builder he had started working with in 2015. At the time, he was tasked with designing two show homes for NAHB's International Builder Show and needed a builder to manifest his vision. "That snowballed into a great working relationship in the years that followed," he tells House Beautiful. Today, the interior designer at TV personality has completed a number of projects with Tri Pointe Homes mostly across the West Coast. However, these aren't just show homes, anymore: They're real homes that you can live in.

For his latest project, he traveled back to Arizona (he had worked there on the Avance community in 2019) to design three of the four home models (Pistache, Acacia, and Oak) offered in Domaine at Waterston. This 128 house master-planned community is located in Gilbert, Arizona.

As he tells House Beautiful, the Pistache model is a "fresh take on farmhouse style." To achieve this look, Berk balanced light oak wood floors with white walls and cabinetry. To add some color, he peppered in moss green accents and pops of black to create an overall relaxed feel. Casual linens and natural woven textures contribute to the home's laid-back style."The overall vibe of that home is so serene, that it’s hard not to love," Berk says. The home is also great for entertaining as the layout positions the kitchen, which is centrally located, next to the great room.

Meanwhile, the Acacia model takes on more of a desert contemporary style — fitting for its location. Berk chose a palette of earthy desert hues (think: rust and sand), yet he also tastefully incorporated some black elements throughout."Sculptural furniture forms and punchy art give it a young, cool vibe, that’s sophisticated, but not too fussy," he says, adding that the plan "is really unique and I think a lot of people will respond to it."

Last is the Oak model. When Berk set out to develop this model, he envisioned a refined mid-century ranch house. He opted for warm woods and layered gray elements; however, he also incorporated a high contrast neutral palette for a stunning visual. Some pops of blue and navy as well as varied textures give a lived-in look.

While Berk is typically a designer on a client-by-client basis, he's enjoyed his work developing model homes with Tri Pointe Homes. "You’re really given a lot of space to be creative and to execute your holistic vision," he tells us, explaining that he creates these homes to "not only reflect, but enhance the local community."
