Liu Kai Chi denies becoming a street hawker

27 Oct – Hong Kong actor Liu Kai Chi has recently denied rumours that he has relegated himself to work as a street hawker to make ends meet.

As reported on Mingpao, rumours of Liu selling shirts in a street market sparked recently, when a video circulated of the actor doing so on social media app Douyin.

Despite the video showing that there were filming crew around the area indicating that he was in the middle of a shoot, some mainland media platforms still released rumours that Liu had turned to hawking to make a living supposedly due to the pandemic.

In response to the false rumours, Liu's management company, L&P Entertainment released a statement on social media on 26 October, which stressed that the footage that was recorded on the social media app was from Liu's new acting project.

"We can also see there are film crews working nearby in the footage! This kind of random dissemination of information without verifying the content is unethical. The company reserves the right to take legal action against these fake reporting."

It is said that the clip that was shot was from Liu's movie, "Ladies Market", which has yet to be released in cinemas.
