Little Boys Read Trump's Comments About Women
In one of the most important speeches of the 2016 election, Michelle Obama worried about what effect Donald Trump’s rhetoric has been having on children, including boys, who are hearing a presidential candidate boast about grabbing women "by the pussy." "This has got to stop right now, because consider this: If all of this is painful to us as grown women, what do you think this is doing to our children?" she said while campaigning for Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire in October. "And how is this affecting men and boys in this country - because I can tell you that the men in my life do not talk about women like this and I know that my family is not unusual."
Indeed, Donald Trump’s campaign has forced teachers and parents across America to have difficult, awkward, and tense conversations with children about sexual assault, racism, and xenophobia. Cosmopolitan.com asked boys to repeat some of Trump’s comments, and yes, it is about as uncomfortable as you’d expect. Thankfully, these kids seem to understand something that Trump does not - that it’s not ever OK to talk about a woman or girl in such a demeaning way. As one of the boys in the video said, the things Trump says to women "are very mean."
