Ahh the Little Black Dress. Solving fashion dilemmas since, like, forever. Wear it with trainers and a leather jacket for cool girl style, or heels and a sparkly clutch bag for more formal, OTT events. No matter the occasion, an LBD works every time.
It has a place in every girl's wardrobe, and a legion of celeb fans including Hailey Bieber, Anne Hathaway, and Khloe Kardashian. And we can now add Lily-Rose Depp to the list. The actress' Cannes Film Festival looks consisted of LBDs and only LBDs.
Who can blame her? It's a wardrobe staple for a reason. Plus it doesn't hurt when your little black dress of choice is a vintage Chanel number. Yep, Lily-Rose kicked off Cannes in a strapless number adorned entirely with black sequins that fashion girlies with their finger on the pulse may recognise from Chanel's Autumn/Winter 1994 collection.
Featuring a lace ruffle trim along the top of the bodice and a blue sequinned flower corsage at the centre, the mini also featured buttons down the front finishing in a stain bow tied at her waist. Lily paired the dress with sheer black opera gloves, tights, and classic black court shoes.
The design was originally worn by Christy Turlington 29 years ago, making it older than Lily who's only 23. Wow, we feel old...
The daughter of Johnny Depp was attending the premiere of her upcoming HBO series, The Idol, but made sure to switch up her look for the after-party later that same evening. Cue her second look of the festival.
What's better than a sequin Chanel mini? Answer: another Chanel sequin mini. However, this style was from the fashion house's Cruise 2023/24 collection and featured a simple thick strapped silhouette decorated with ombré sequins on the front panel of the dress. She kept the same sheer tights and black heels as before, but let her hair down.
Another day at Cannes, another Chanel little black dress. Since becoming the French brand's youngest ambassador at the age of 15 in 2015, Lily has often worn the brand for red carpet events and Cannes is no exception.
For her second day of promo, Lily opted for a day-time chic look in a tweed mini with scoop neck and flared skirt. She added black sling-back pumps and made sure to add an element of glam in her black sunnies.
And for her final LBD (so far), Lily attended a party in a long-sleeved mini. Despite its conservative style and high neck, the see-through fabric kept things sexy and ticked off one of this season's biggest trends.
Unfortunately, a Chanel LBD is a little out of our price range, even when taking cost-per-wear into consideration. But we've scoured the high street for similar styles so you can shop the best little black dresses now:
