Lily-Rose Depp Makes Her Fashion Show Debut at Chanel

On Tuesday night, Karl Lagerfeld brought his roving Paris-Salzburg Metiers d'Art collection all the way from Austria to New York. Having first shown these exquisite clothes in December at the Schloss Leopoldskron, Lagerfeld created a replica set (in a mere 36 hours) that was comprised of a grandiose salon-like setting replete with antique couches, tables, and chandeliers. And while the gorgeousness of a Chanel show cannot be denied, there was a new face in the audience that really stood out from the typical madding crowd. Making her first fashion show appearance was the beautiful Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of actor Johnny Depp and Chanel model/muse/French actress/icon Vanessa Paradis. “It’s a first,” said Paradis of the familial fashion outing, which also included her 11-year-old son, Jack. “It’s moving and emotional.” As for the being back in New York? “I lived here a long time ago and each time I’m back it just fills my heart with sparkles. I love it. It’s really awesome.”

For the occasion, mademoiselle Depp wore a light blue two-piece—a crop top with an attached scarf and a long skirt that was hand embroidered with crystals. The 15-year-old budding fashion star looked graceful and elegant and way beyond her years. After a runway presentation that was comprised of 70 or so looks that were inspired by traditional Austrian wardrobe, Depp and Paradis said their hellos to Karl in fluent French, while Jack waited patiently nearby.

Afterward guests such as Dakota Johnson, Patti Smith, and Beyoncé (yes, she was there too) ambled into an adjoining room for champagne, passed plates, and to watch Reincarnation, a short film directed by—who else?—Lagerfeld that stars Pharrell Williams and Cara Delevingne. Williams quickly materialized from onscreen to onstage for the evening’s final hurrah—a multi-song set that included an original number called “CC The World” which included a quick solo refrain by Delevingne. (Hollywood take note, the girl can sing!) Williams then went on to crank out his most recent hits including the litigious “Blurred Lines” and “Happy.” For the latter, Lagerfeld’s adorable godson Hudson Kroenig bopped around onstage with Williams and his baes, and even grabbed a rose from a screaming fan in the audience. The night was still going strong when the deejay took back over and Lily-Rose was spotted twirling around the dance floor in her sparkling Chanel finery.
