Let's Stop and Appreciate Jennifer Aniston's Hair

Her iconic locks have been a source of hair inspiration for two decades now.

Before she made it on the small screen, Jennifer had full, wavy brown hair and cute bangs to boot.

Jen got noticed in 1994, when Friends premiered and her hair was a wavy medium-length style (and the bangs were no more).

While the "Rachel" is one of the most iconic hairstyles (even though the actress hated it) and came on the scene near the end of '94, it wasn't until 1995 that those shaggy, face-framing layers started to make waves.

The "Rachel" was still going strong in '96, but it got amped up a notch with even more volume and height.

By March, Jen's hair had grown out a bit, but she kept the heavy angling around her face.

Jen proves the slightly layered cut looks just as cool worn wavy, and you can see her start to experiment with honey-colored highlights in July.

As her layers grow out, the actress takes her curls up a notch.

Jen's super-straight look goes a bit edgier with thinned-out hair and razor-sharp angles.

Jen opted for a shorter, blunt-cut 'do - not surprising, as it seems a lot of people were ready for a change after Y2K.

Showing off the versatility of her new bob, Jennifer styled it straight in January.

As the cut grew out, Jen added face-framing layers back into the mix and went a little more blonde, looking like the ultimate California girl.

With very few layers (if any at all) and a completely natural texture, this is probably the most low-key we've ever seen Jen's hair.

Pairing a formal gown with a sleek pony, Jen proved that sporty can also be sexy.

The actress rang in the New Year with side-swept bangs, which added a playful note to her usual look.

While the length is a smidge longer than what Jen usually maintains, at this point the loose, beachy waves and golden hues are part of her trademark style.

Jen ditched the length by 2005, but kept the relaxed waves for a chic vibe.

Jen's admitted that she's not a fan of short cuts for herself, so it's no surprise she went back to long, pin-straight, smooth layers.

Jen's mostly-one-hue, tousled hair is basically what we want to recreate for every date night.

She may have been at the premiere for He's Just Not That Into You, but with her unfussy, super-long pony, we have a feeling that there were a few men out there who, well, were.

Normally a down-the-center-part kind of girl, Jen played up a side part and loose waves for a glamorous night out.

2011 called for a shorter, super-blonde 'do, which looked effortlessly edgy.

As the cut started to grow out, Jen warmed up the shade so it was closer to her natural brunette.

By the end of the year, Jen had her long locks back, and joined the Living Proof hair-care team as a spokesperson and co-owner.

Jen sported this cute bob in 2013 while on-set for Cake. It may be a wig, but it just goes to show that shorter styles look just as amaze on her.

When she wasn't feeling her short style (she had cut her hair again at the end of 2013), Jen opted for extensions to give her hair a little boost.

In early 2015, the actress lightened her shade, added face-framing layers, and had a grand-old time at the Oscars.

Later that year, Jen kept the lighter color but thinned out her cut.

Jen loves this relaxed style - before getting married, she said she'd prefer this look for her wedding: "I like loose and natural hair... like, 'I just got out of bed, maybe had a romp' hair." The best part: She totally styles it in 15 minutes or less.

At the 2017 Oscars, Jen proved once and for all you don't need a fussy updo to look fancy. She recently told People that the secret to her sleek, straight hair is a product her hairstylist Chris McMillan recommended: Unite 7Seconds Detangler. "I can just let my hair air-dry, and it will eliminate any frizz," she said.

She rocked a slightly more tousled look with some angles this summer, exemplifying that perfect combo of relaxed-but-also-put-together.
