‘Legends of Tomorrow’ to Fight Legion of Doom in Season 2

“Legends of Tomorrow” is introducing an iconic super-villain team from DC comic book lore in its second season: the Legion of Doom.

John Barrowman’s Malcolm Merlyn and Neal McDonough‘s Damien Darhk from “Arrow” will be joining the Season 2 cast, alongside “The Flash” alum Matt Letscher as Reverse Flash and “Legends” Season 1 regular Wentworth Miller, who plays Captain Cold.

Lestcher will be a new series regular on “Legends,” while McDonough will recur in multiple episodes.

The four villains will make up this new iteration of the Legion of Doom, which originated as a super-villain team led by Lex Luthor in the DC comic book cartoon adaptation “Challenge of the Superfriends.”

“For season two of ‘Legends,’ we decided that the perfect antagonist for TV’s first-ever team of Super Heroes would be TV’s first-ever team of Super-Villains, recruited from the ranks of ‘Arrow’ and The Flash’s’ deadliest adversaries,” said executive producer Marc Guggenheim in a statement. “Being huge fans of the Challenge of the Superfriends, we’ve come to call this group our ‘Legion of Doom.'”

On the side of the good guys, the heroes aboard the Waverider — Brandon Routh‘s Atom, Victor Garber and Franz Drameh’s Firestorm, Caity Lotz‘s White Canary and others — will meet more superheroes to help them in their new battle.

In the season one finale, the heroes encountered Rex Tyler aka Hourman (Patrick J. Adams) who issued a dire warning. It was to be their first encounter with a member of the Justice Society of America.

During the show’s panel in San Diego, executive producers and cast revealed that some of Tyler’s fellow JSA members would soon be making an appearance on the series, including Obsidian, Stargirl and Dr. Mid-Nite.

Casting for the new heroes is now underway.

“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” returns for Season 2 on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
