Leaked video shows Jackie Chan and friends socialising with police

18 Feb – A video has turned viral showing members of the Hong Kong Police including Police Chief Tang Ping Keung dining and socialising with pro-government entertainers.

As reported on Mingpao, the video which was leaked to the public earlier this week, was taken on 16 February at a banquet hosted by the football teams from Hong Kong Movie Star Sports Association and Sun Hei Sports Club following matches with a police team.

Among celebrities spotted at the banquet were Jackie Chan, Eric Tsang, as well as Alan Tam - the latter who received backlash last year for expressing his support for the Hong Kong police amid protests over police brutality. Others include Ken Lam, Julian Cheung, and Alex Fong.

Aside from Tang, other police figures seen at the event include former head of the Police Public Relations Branch Chief Superintendent John Tse, as well as Senior Superintendent Kelvin Kong.

In the video, Tang can be heard giving a speech and telling guests how happy he was to meet a lot of his idols, and revealed that he learned how to be a policeman from Jackie and

Alex, while jokingly expressing his disdain for Alan because his wife loves the singer more than him.

Following the leak, which had sparked a heated debate among netizens regarding whether or not the banquet was paid for by the taxpayers' money, the Police Public Relations Division clarified that the dinner was a private event and involved no public funds.

"The cost was shared by both parties," they added.
