Leah Dou wins BIFF Best Supporting Actress for movie debut

26 Apr – Faye Wong's daughter Leah Dou was recently named Best Supporting Actress at the recently held Beijing International Film Festival.

As reported on UPower, the singer-songwriter, who made her acting debut in Chen Jianbin's "The Eleventh Chapter", was ecstatic to win her first acting award, saying, "Thank you to the jury for your recognition. Thank you director Mr. Chen Jianbin, and everyone who have contributed to this film."

"I hope to have the chance to keep making movies in the future," she enthused.

Leah stated that her preconceived notions have been broken from doing the film, and that she has learned a lot throughout the experience.

She also thanked co-star Zhou Xun, for giving her good guidance and support during the shoot.

Asked what kind of character she would like to play in the future, Leah said that she hasn't thought about it yet.

"Maybe if I run into one that I like, I will try [acting] again," she said.

She also expressed happiness over the fact that her grandmother was watching her on television when she won the said award.

"I am so grateful that she was able to experience it," she said.

In "The Eleventh Chapter", Leah and Zhou play the role of mother and daughter, while director Chen plays Leah's stepfather – a man who tries to clear his name of a murder while trying to manage his relationship with his wife and stepdaughter.
