Lea Salonga chosen as part of Living Legend stamp series

9 Nov – Lea Salonga recently revealed that she will be commemorated in an upcoming stamp series by the Philippine Postal Corp.

On 8 November, the musical star posted a promotional poster of the upcoming launch of the Living Legend Series, which will be released to celebrate 75-years of the first stamp of the Republic of the Philippines.

She wrote, "Yup, this is for real! I've been chosen to be commemorated on a stamp and postcards to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first postage stamp in the Philippines! And I am in wonderful company! Huzzah!"

Lea made no mention as to who will be among the world-renowned Filipinos who will be having their faces on the stamp as well, but from the silhouettes on the poster, one can guess professional pool player Efren "Bata" Reyes, as well as bowling champion Rafael Paeng Nepomuceno among others.

Lea herself is a living legend, having been the first Filipina and Asian woman to win a Tony Award and a Laurence Olivier Award for her performance in "Miss Saigon", and becoming one of the most respected musical theatre actresses on Broadway.

The stamps will be launched on 13 November.
