Lay Zhang threatens to leave brands that disrespect China

16 Aug – Chinese pop idol Zhang Yixing (Lay) recently admitted that he has no qualms terminating his contract with fashion brand Calvin Klein, or any other companies for that matter, if they disrespect the one China policy.

As reported on SCMP, earlier this week, the singer released a statement via his studio, saying that he deeply loves his country and supports the one China policy.

"Zhang is against any acts or words that split his country. All brands that collaborate with him should be careful about the issue."

The statement came after it was reported that the company listed Hong Kong and Taiwan on its English website as "different regions" instead of being a part of one country.

"If there was any mistake in the past, they should immediately correct it, apologise and prevent a recurrence," the statement read.

The fashion brand had since apologised for the error.

This is the latest occurrence following earlier incidents, in which actress Yang Mi and supermodel Liu Wen terminated their contracts with fashion houses Versace and Coach over similar issue.
