Laura Dern swears aromatherapy is “really wonderful” for combatting anxiety.
The Jurassic Park actress, who recently won a Golden Globe and a Critics' Choice Award for her role as a divorce lawyer in Marriage Story, has opened up about her organic and clean beauty regime in an interview with Into The Gloss. During the chat, Laura credited essential oils for helping to lift her mood and combat jetlag.
"I love aromatherapy and started studying it when I was 17," she explained, noting that she regularly travels with lavender, rosemary, eucalyptus, and grapefruit oils. "Grapefruit oil is really wonderful for anxiety, but it's also wonderful for restoring balance when you're jetlagged.”
Along with daily aromatherapy, the 52-year-old is a fan of having nightly baths that feature a variety of different ingredients, such as apple cider vinegar and Epsom salts.
"My nighttime ritual is a bath – I can't go to sleep without one," the star shared. "Bath products are where I really get homespun. I will do a bath with Epsom salt, depending. In terms of rebalancing alkaline in the body, I do lots of apple cider vinegar baths. They’re so good for your skin and really important in helping women level our pH."
Laura previously used products by natural skincare brand Dr. Hauschka, but now uses her own essential oils to make "cocktails" for her baths.
"My bath recipe includes lavender, sometimes jasmine. If it's a morning bath, sometimes I'll put rosemary in it, or coconut oil. Bergamot, chamomile, having a little care kit of your essential oils is a great thing for bathers," she added.
