Laura Dern spent "too many years" hiding her skin with make-up.
The 52-year-old, who recently won a Golden Globe for her role in Noah Baumbach's drama Marriage Story, has opened up about her beauty and skincare regime during a chat with Into The Gloss.
Laura confessed that she no longer uses foundation on her face but instead slathers on True Botanicals' Pure Radiance Oil, which contains chia seed, passion fruit and papaya seed oils, along with algae extract and squalane.
"My morning routine is washing my face and using the Pure Radiance Oil," she explained. "That oil has become my foundation. If I'm using make-up, I use just a little bit of concealer when I need and a lip and a little mascara.
"I spent too many years thinking that I had to hide my skin. The quicker I moved away from foundation that suffocated my skin, the healthier and happier my skin became."
And the oil transformed Laura's skin so dramatically that even her make-up artist on Big Little Lies noted a big change.
"Suddenly over three months, the make-up artist was like, 'Hold on, your skin looks beautiful. Your pores are looking smaller, and when you come in the morning your skin looks rested even though you tell me you haven't slept,'" the star laughed. "Literally, the only thing that had changed was the oil."
Laura, who serves as a brand ambassador for True Botanicals, knows she needs to keep her routine as simple as possible, due to her sensitive skin, and swears by a probiotic face mask if she needs to give her face a lift.
"I've tried so many different masks and they're all so full of chemicals. Masks, particularly overnight masks, break me out," she stated, before adding that her favourite is the Eminence Clear Skin Probiotic Masque. "It feels activating - I really, really like it. It feels like you're nourishing your skin and waking it up, like taking acidophilus."
