Lara Dutta On Husband Mahesh Bhupathi Entering Showbiz: ‘He Is Very Excited’-EXCLUSIVE

Lara Dutta has been a part of showbiz since 1997 when she won the title of Miss Intercontinental. Three years later, she achieved more laurels in the pageantry world as she was crowned the first Miss Universe of the millennium and the second from India - in Miss Universe in the year 2000.

She was soon approached with multiple Bollywood offers and it was in the Raj Kanwar’s 2003 release Andaaz that she made her Hindi film debut alongside Akshay Kumar and fellow debutante and Miss World 2000, Priyanka Chopra. In 2010, she married Indian tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi with whom she has a daughter, Saira. And now her husband is also all set to enter into showbiz as well.

Mahesh is entering the OTT space with a documentary series on his iconic and successful partnership with Olympian Leander Paes, titled Breakpoint, which will be co-directed by the husband-wife duo of Nitesh Tiwari and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. Mahesh and Leander together have won four grand slams in the men’s doubles between 1999 and 2002 and have also reached the finals of three more grand slams.

Ask Lara if she gave any advice to her husband about showbiz, and she chuckles saying, “It’s the story of their lives and their partnership, it’s the journey that they have lived and this Indian express is an iconic duo, so what advice could I have given to him."

Lara goes on to share how Mahesh has been feeling about this new phase of his life. “He is very excited about it and this project is going to be a treat for all sports lovers. They are thoroughly going to enjoy it. Of course, they have a brilliant team to bring it together on screen with Nitesh, Ashwiny and Leander, so I am really excited for that.”

So, will Lara be also a part of this series being made? “I can’t tell you that, Mahesh will tell you,” she responds.
