Lam Sheung Mo stays positive to combat cancer

17 Nov – Although he successfully battled nasopharyngeal carcinoma back in 1994, veteran actor Lam Sheung Mo admitted that being a cancer survivor means knowing that there is a chance that it will come back.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who appeared at the conference of his new stage play production, shared that it is necessary for him to have a long-term follow-up treatment to control the condition.

When asked if he is not worried that his busy schedule might affect his condition, Lam stated, "Working hard is not a problem. Your attitude is critical, as it can affect your metabolism."

"For example, a doctor said you have only two months to live. But if you're greatly affected by it, you can die in just two days. Thus, the mood plays an important part," he added.

As of now, Lam revealed that the cancer has caused some damage to his speech and hearing ability, although it has not dampened his spirit.

"Since the speaking ability is limited by the condition, I can't teach students. But I am now writing a book, scripts, and doing producer's work," he said.
