Lakeshore Entertainment Taps Lee Toland Krieger To Direct ‘Blackfriars’

EXCLUSIVE: The Age Of Adaline filmmaker Lee Toland Krieger is reteaming with Lakeshore Entertainment for its newest production Blackfriars, a 2015 Black List comedy written by Chris Bremner.

Based on a true story, Bremner’s script follows an uptight Boston police detective, Walter Robinson, who gets the case of his career when he is assigned to protect Bobby Zachary, the lone survivor of the infamous 1978 mob hit known as the Blackfriars Massacre. While hiding Bobby, the state’s key witness in Bermuda, Walter is having the time of his life until he discovers he’s been swindled by Bobby’s big con.

Lakeshore Entertainment’s Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing alongside Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis from Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures. The film is currently casting.

Toland Krieger last paired with Lakeshore on its production The Age Of Adaline, starring Blake Lively and Harrison Ford. The film, which saw a young woman, born at the turn of the 20th century, rendered ageless after an accident, grossed $65 million worldwide. He also directed Sundance hit Celeste & Jesse Forever with Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg and boasts TV credits such as Riverdale and upcoming The Divergent Series: Ascendant to his name.

Toland Krieger is repped by UTA and Anonymous Content. Bremner is with UTA, Kaplan/Perrone and attorney Greg Slewett.
