Lakeith Stanfield Joins Jim Strouse’s New Comedy With Jessica Williams

Lakeith Stanfield has been tapped to join Jessica Williams, Chris O’Dowd, and Noël Wells in writer-director Jim Strouse’s new film, which is now shooting in New York.

In the comedy, former Daily Show correspondent Williams will play Jessica, an aspiring New York playwright trying hard to get over a recent break-up with her boyfriend, played by Stanfield. She sees light at the end of the tunnel when she meets Boone (O’Dowd), himself recently divorced. Together, they figure out a way to make it through the tough times, and in the meantime realize they like each other. Michael B. Clark and Alex Turtletaub are producing via their Beachside, which is also financing. Williams is an executive producer. ICM Partners is handling domestic sales.

Williams and Strouse previously teamed on the Sundance 2015 pic People Places Things.

Stanfield, who played Snoop Dogg in Straight Outta Compton and is currently in Snowden and FX’s Atlanta, is repped by CAA and Stark Management.
