KZ Tandingan secures spot in "Singer 2018"

Though placed sixth in the latest episode, the singer has her place secured due to her previous performance

20 Feb – Although she didn't retain her top spot in the Chinese reality singing competition, "Singer 2018", KZ Tandingan still managed to stay put and secure a spot in the show.

As reported on Sunstar, the singer, who made the news when she took over the first place from British pop star Jessie J. in a previous episode, wasn't able to defend her position in the latest performance when she fell to the sixth spot for her rendition of the Mandarin song, "The Pain which You Don't Know" and a medley of other songs.

But since she made it to the top last week, Tandingan will go on to become a regular contender.

This week, it was China's own Hua Chenyu who made it to the top with his performance of Jay Chou's "Nunchuks", while Jessie maintained her second spot through her performance of Prince's "Purple Rain".

When asked why she decided to sing a Mandarin song this time around, Tandingan, who earned the top spot with Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" in her first performance, said, "I want to show my respect for the Chinese audience, Chinese culture, Chinese music."
