Kristen Stewart says she'd be up for playing a gay superhero for Marvel
Kristen Stewart has spoken about her sensational comments last week, in which she said she was advised to hide her sexuality in public.
The Twilight star said that she was told that being pictured holding hands with her girlfriend would stop her 'getting a Marvel movie'.
“That’s been a conversation that’s always existed,” Stewart told Variety.

“I’ve always radically rejected it. It’s nice to be able to talk about that in a way that people really understand now.
“Instead of sounding like I’m being crazy, like, ‘Don’t put me in a box! Ambiguity’s a cool thing!’ Now, it’s, like ‘duh.’ Before, I had to say it like it was some far out idea. Now it’s more on the mainstage, which is rad.”
As for the mention of Marvel, which appears to be doing its best to become more inclusive in future, with plans for gay heroes in the forthcoming The Eternals, she added that Marvel was mentioned 'literally just a big conglomerate-y type thing'.
“I’m sure they would love to hire the gay kids to be superheroes,” Stewart added.
Then when asked what superhero Stewart might play in the Marvel universe, she chipped back: “A gay one!”

Last month, Marvel studio head Kevin Feige confirmed that a second gay character would feature in the MCU, as part of the new superhero collective The Eternals.
Though he didn't reveal which character it would be, he said: “He’s married, he’s got a family, and that is just part of who he is.”
Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie will be the first out LGBT character, in Thor: Love and Thunder, arriving in 2021.
