25 Sep – TVB actress and singer Kristal Tin recently acknowledged her father's influence in enabling her to become a performer.
As reported on Mingpao, the singer, who invited her father as one of the guest performers at her recent concert held at the MacPherson Stadium, shared that it was her father who encouraged her to compete in ATV's fourth annual "Future Idol Battle", which she won through her performance of Shirley Kwan's "A Solo Song".
"He told me that if I could complete a song on stage and win the competition, he would quit smoking. Thanks to his continuous support and encouragement, I was able to realise my dream," she said.
Her father responded jokingly, "I pushed you onto the stage when you were 15, and now you are pushing me to the stage when I am 70."
The father-daughter duo performed two songs together - "Your Cheating Heart" and "The Moon Represents My Heart". Kristal stated that she first performed the Teresa Teng song back when she was only three years old, and would force her family to watch her sing and dance.
"My home was my personal concert, my first stage. The neighbours were my fans. I grew up hearing their applause," she said.
