Kris Wu likens autotune to photo filter

4 Aug – Kris Wu recently dismissed the idea that the use of autotune in his music is akin to people using beauty filters in their social media photos.

As reported on Sina News, the singer who sat down for an interview with Tencent News' "My Legacy" recently, addressed the criticism of him overusing autotune in his solo albums, saying that people have a misconception about it.

"Beauty filters are used to make your eyes look bigger, your skin better. I can edit all imperfections to make it perfect. That's the function of a beauty filter," he said.

Instead, Kris likened autotune to a photo filter that doesn't change anything about the image except the tone.

"That is why people like film cameras again now, and why a lot of apps have the texture of film cameras. It has that old-fashioned feeling, but it was just a photo filter. This is also the reason why I use autotune. It wasn't adding any filter to my voice, it is just adjusting the tone," he said.

However, the singer acknowledged the fact that there are people who dislike the use of autotune, and that everybody has their own preference when it comes to music.
