Kris Aquino on why she loves "Return of the Jedi"
2 Jan – Just like everybody else, Kris Aquino also has her favourite "Star Wars" movie, and that would be "Return of the Jedi".
"It's because [it was] the last movie I got to watch with my dad," said the actress in part 2 of her "Kris Aquino Home Tour" show.
The movie premiered sometime in May 1983, and in August the same year, her father, politician Benigno Aquino Jr. was assassinated at the Manila International Airport upon returning from his self-imposed exile.
"We were still living in Boston [at the time]. We lined up for three hours on opening day for me to be able to watch it," Aquino recalled.
The actress said that it was also a meaningful time for her because it was the first time she got interviewed for television by an entertainment news channel.
"I remember my dad and I were super excited. He left me at the cinema, because at that time there was no cellphone or anything. So he went home to tell my grandmother, "Kris might be in the news, in the local news E. Please record it for us to see". So little did we know that this would be my career," said Aquino.
"So I have a soft spot for Star Wars," she added.
