South Korea’s co-ed group Kard held their first-ever live virtual event, Asics x Kard Live Virtual Event, yesterday (12 July), engaging fans across six Southeast Asia countries.

With 2.9 million followers on their official Instagram account, Kard took over Asics Sportstyle regional accounts on Sunday and met with their fans from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam.

Answering fans’ questions, interacting with the live audience, and sharing fashion tips, the 4-member group had announced at the start of their event that they were, unfortunately, not going to perform live.

Asked by a Hidden Kard (name of Kard’s fan club) about the little happiness that they have in life during this challenging period, member BM shared that making music and being able to answer their fans’ questions are things that make him happy.

Hidden Kards were also curious about the members’ favourite thing to do with their Asics running shoes.

“Jogging! Walking!” member J.Seph enthusiastically shared in English. Further elaborating in Korean, J.Seph shared that the shoes are very comfortable and hence, something that he wears them a lot even if it was just going to the supermarket in front of his house.

Despite not being the best in the language, J.Seph did his best during the live event to engage with Hidden Kards in English whenever he spoke. The other members jokingly teased J.Seph when he had mixed up the English and Konglish pronunciation for jogging and walking, livening up the live event.

Korean-American member BM also stepped in to help translate his fellow members’ answers from Korean into English for the Southeast Asian fans tuning into the event.

For the fashion segment, members Jiwoo and J.Seph, who were decked out in neon green and orange Asics jackets, shared their sporty look coupled with jeans and the newly relaunched Asics Gel-1090 shoes. Members BM and Somin then changed into casual wear to share tips on mix-matching outfits to go with the running shoes.

During the event, the 4-member group had also played Pictionary with the fans from the various regions with promises of signed Asics shirts for the winners.

Rounding up the virtual live, Kard was then joined on Instagram by local ambassadors, with Singapore being represented by actor Zong Zijie, for a game of Charades. The Thailand local ambassador takes home the win for the most number of correct answers.
