Kim Kardashian’s debut shapewear line, Skims, finally launched last week and the businesswoman introduced us to a product we never even knew we needed - an asymmetric pair of cycling shorts.

The inclusive undergarment range features the Solution Short (£35) which is designed to slip beneath a thigh-high split leg dress. Pretty genius, huh?

The shorts come in two styles depending on which leg your ensemble reveals and is available in nine colourways from ‘sand’ to ‘onyx’.

According to the website, the never-before-seen product “holds in your core, smooths your thigh and lifts and shapes your butt”.

The mother-of-four shared a photograph of herself modelling the undergarment on Instagram alongside the caption: “Our @skims one leg solution short is available now at skims.com. This is perfect when you have a dress or skirt with a high slit and still need the comfort and snatchness (LOL) of shapewear like me!”

The post amassed almost 653,000 likes with fans rushing to praise the reality star for introducing fashion devotees to the must-have item.

“This design is so cool I can’t believe no one ever thought about inventing this sooner,” one follower commented.

“It's genius that she did a short!” a second user wrote. “The shapewear I own is a skirt-for a skirt and that thigh rub is real! Can't wait to order these.”

A third simply added, “Life changer!”

The inclusive undergarment range is designed to “lift, enhance, tone and sculpt” with nine different skin tones on offer alongside a number of sizes available from XXS to 5XL.

Prices range from £20 to £81 and other trophy items include the Sculpting Bodysuit Mid Thigh (£56) and the Sheer Sculpt Thong Bodysuit (£44).

Little did fans know, the 38-year-old has been testing her underwear out over the past few months and reportedly wore one of her shaping garments beneath her now-famous Thierry Mugler Met Gala dress.

Famed for her curves, Kardashian has been looking for the perfect solutions to her outfits for years and would even customise her own shapewear while on the road using teabags to dye the fabric and a needle on thread to customise the shape and fit.

But in true Kardashian fashion, her latest venture isn’t without controversy.

Back in July, the mother-of-four was accused of cultural appropriation after originally naming the collection Kimono.

After widespread backlash, the mayor of Kyoto, Daisaku Kadokawa, wrote a letter to Kardashian asking her to change the term due to its connotations with Japanese culture.

Shortly afterwards, the ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star publicly apologised for causing offence via Instagram.

“When I announced the name of my shapewear line, I did so with the best intentions in mind,” she said. “My brands and products are built with inclusivity and diversity at their core and after careful thought and consideration, I will be launching my Solutionwear brand under a new name.”
