Kim Kardashian Channels Pamela Anderson in a Backless Leather Look at the CFDA Awards
Kim Kardashian looked like a ’90s bombshell at this year’s CFDA Fashion Awards.
The reality-TV star channeled Pamela Anderson in an all-leather Chrome Hearts two-piece set that included a backless halter-neck top with a high turtleneck feature and a maxi skirt with a body-hugging silhouette and hook-and-eye clasps all the way down the back’s center. Both pieces additionally featured a jacquard pattern emblazoned with the brand’s famous gothic crosses.
Kardashian paired the outfit with towering shiny black heels, a glossy black manicure, and a messy high bun with face-framing bangs—a style that became Anderson’s signature updo in the late ’90s.
Later in the evening, Kardashian swapped her halter neck for another Chrome Hearts leather top. The corset included a similar cross jacquard pattern as her first outfit, but also featured a plunging lace-up detail down the front. She accessorized with a silver chain choker necklace, a longer silver necklace with multiple attached cross pendants, and a small leather purse with a silver chain handle.
Kardashian has made form-fitting outfits one of her wardrobe staples, a style that has only been amplified by the launch of her viral shapewear line, Skims.
“I’m very minimal but practical,” she said in a 2020 interview with Bazaar.com. “When I said I wanted seamless shapewear, everyone looked and thought that I was crazy. The thing that always bothered me [with other brands] was that there would be a seam up the front. You would have this really tight dress and then see this seam, defeating the purpose of wearing something that is supposed to look like there is nothing underneath. I’m all about comfort and glamour at the same time. I always think you can do it all, so why not have everything that you need as far as your products?”
