Kim Cattrall doesn't 'know why' people are obsessed with her scat singing video (exclusive)
Kim Cattrall is one of the world’s best known TV stars thanks to her iconic role of Samantha Jones in Sex and the City but she’s also known for something a little more niche.
A YouTube video entitled “Kim Cattrall scatting” has amassed over 45,000 views and it shows the actor scat singing while her then husband jazz bassist Mark Levinson plays the double bass.
Another version of the video has over 445,000 views and people have been sharing their love for it for years via social media.
While promoting her new movie, Horrible Histories: The Movie - Rotten Romans, Cattrall discussed the video and how it came about.

“It was actually to promote his music and it was a very fun thing to do one afternoon in our little house, our little beach house and it spawned this kind crazy fans to watch this video,” she explained.
It even inspired an artist to put on a show based around the music, scatting Cattrall and her then-husband produced.

“In Brooklyn in New York they had this opening, some artist she had made some kind of painting to the music of it and the scatting,” she said, “it was very odd!”
The exhibition in question was housed at the THNK1994 gallery which is dedicated to pop culture guilty pleasures and run by comedy duo Viviana Olen and Matt Harkins.

The co-founders had previously put on an exhibition inspired by the Olsen twins and Tonya Harding. They explained to Vice why Kim became their next artistic muse.
"The idea of [the Kim Cattrall video] being an exhibit came right after the Olsen Twins ended, and we met with another gallery," Olen said.

"They were like 'Do you have any ideas for another exhibit?' and we were like, 'Ummmm, Yami Kippi Ya Bo?'
“[The video] is the one thing we would show everybody when they came over, like 'Have you seen this?'“, she continued. “We met people who had seen it, and it was one of those things where if you know about it, we're going to be best friends."
“I don't know why it's so captured people's imaginations” said Cattrall.
Horrible Histories: The Movie - Rotten Romans is in cinemas from 26 July.
