Fashion designer Christian Cowan has accused Khloe Kardashian of selling a dress he loaned her on her family's resale website.
The fashion designer, who boosts clients such as Lizzo, Ariana Grande, and Meghan Trainor, posted a screengrab of an electric blue midi dress from his brand listed on Kardashian Kloset, the Kardashian-Jenner family's designer resale site, on his Instagram Stories on Sunday and questioned why she was selling borrowed samples instead of returning them.
"@khloekardashian why are my runway samples I loaned you being sold on your website?" Cowan wrote besides the image, before adding that his team had reached out privately before he went public with the issue. "We've emailed 3 times and had no response."
Khloe has yet to comment publicly on the designer's comments, but the item, which was initially listed on the resale website for $1,300 (£1,000), was removed on Monday afternoon.
However, a source has told Page Six Style that it was simply a misunderstanding, as the 36-year-old hadn't been told it was a loaned piece.
"The dress was gifted to her through her stylist without a mention of a loan and it was never asked to be returned," an insider told the publication.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians stars launched Kardashian Kloset, where they sell their pre-owned items, in October last year. Khloe's current offerings include pieces by designers such as Balmain, Mugler, Alexander Wang, and Alexander McQueen.
