All 84 KFC outlets in Singapore will stop providing plastic straws and lids from Wednesday (20 June) onwards, in a bid to reduce the use of single-use plastics.

According to the fast food chain, the move will save around 17.9 tonnes of single-use plastics in a year. KFC’s latest move is part of their No Straws Initiative.

However, plastic lids will still be provided to customers who purchase takeaway drinks.

This initiative follows KFC’s environmentally-friendly move last year to replace foam packaging with recyclable paper ones for their breakfast platters and porridge bowls.

KFC’s other recent green effort came in 2016 when they started serving dine-in meals in reusable baskets instead of paper boxes.
