SINGAPORE — It’s nearing National Day, which also means it is that period of the year that seems to have become a traditional battle of the fried chicken fast food chains.

Last year, as part of National Day celebrations, KFC released its Cereal Chicken, and Texas Chicken launched its Salted Egg Fried Chicken. This year, Texas Chicken has brought back Salted Egg Fried Chicken, while KFC is launching Flossy Crunch Chicken.

We’ve had floss on bread rolls. We’ve had it in porridge. Why not floss on fried chicken? The new Flossy Crunch Chicken is a combination of KFC’s crispy fried chicken, coated in curry and local spices, topped with a special spicy-sweet chicken floss.

According to KFC: “As the curry and spices coat the piping hot fried chicken, the rich bold flavours seep in the chicken, ensuring every bite is an umami bomb. Infused with spicy dried shrimp, the fluffy chicken floss gets a flavour boost, adding a sweet and fiery kick to taste as it melts in your mouth.” Now that’s getting us hungry.

The Flossy Crunch Chicken will be available from tomorrow onwards (21 July) at all KFC restaurants except the outlet in the Singapore Zoo. A two-piece Flossy Crunch Chicken Meal will cost S$8.95.

KFC told Yahoo Lifestyle SEA that the promotional period was planned to last until 1 September, but that could change depending on the stock availability of Flossy Crunch Chicken.

That’s not all, though: along with this promotion, KFC is reducing the a la carte price of its Cheesy Fries to an incredible S$1.95, down from the usual price of S$4.30. This offer is available at all KFC restaurants except KFC Jewel Changi Airport and Singapore Zoo. The offer is limited to two sets per transaction.
