Kevin Durant Won’t Visit Trump’s White House: ‘I Don’t Respect Who’s in Office’
NBA star Kevin Durant has declared he won’t visit the White House if Donald Trump invites him over. His reason? The NBA champion Golden State Warrior doesn’t respect the president.
“I don’t respect who’s in office right now,” Durant told ESPN Friday. “I don’t agree with what he agrees with, so my voice is going to be heard by not doing that.”
It is tradition that the champions visit the White House and Durant won Most Valuable Player of the NBA Finals. Trump has not officially asked the Warriors to visit yet but the MVP says many of his teammates would probably agree with his decision.

“That’s just me personally, but if I know my guys well enough, they’ll all agree with me,” Durant said.
Durant also told ESPN that racial tensions have escalated during the Trump administration, pointing to last weekend’s violence at Charlottesville that occurred during a white supremacy rally.
“If we have someone in office that doesn’t care about all people, then we won’t go anywhere as a country,” he said. “In my opinion, until we get him out of here, we won’t see any progress.”
Durant wouldn’t be the first star athlete to skip a visit to the White House. Various members of the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots missed their visit for political reasons.
