Kesha took inspiration from late grandmother with lipstick colour in make-up line

Kesha's new make-up line includes a red lipstick shade inspired by her late grandmother.

The Tik Tok hitmaker has debuted the first few products for Kesha Rose Beauty online, with the collection featuring a 12-shade eyeshadow palette, liquid eyeliner, lipstick, and lip gloss, which are all vegan-friendly and cruelty-free.

Discussing the line with WWD, Kesha revealed the lipstick was inspired by her grandmother.

"She actually passed away when I was younger, but one of the things I (remember is that) she always was wearing her red lipstick," she said. "In the line, I only have two lip products and one of them is this red, red, red (shade). It's reminiscent of my very first experience with make-up."

Kesha, who is gearing up to release her fourth album High Road in January, wants customers to experiment with her cosmetics and use them to express their true selves rather than try to achieve a perfect look.

"My relationship to make-up is not purely to make me feel perfect or beautiful or filtered. It's more to make me feel like my authentic insides are being shown on the outside," the 32-year-old added. "Sometimes with beauty, it feels like the goal is perfection. With my line, that's not the goal. My goal is happiness."

Kesha Rose Beauty will go on sale on Hipdot.com on 3 December.

She follows in the footsteps of musicians like Lady Gaga and Rihanna who have each released successful beauty collections.
