Today in feel-good news: A nursing home in Bowling Green, Kentucky, went the extra mile to bring its residents a summer day unlike any other.

On Friday, August 7, the staff at Creekwood Place Nursing and Rehabilitation teamed up with Tractor Supply Co. to create a “Day at the Lake” vibe for its residents.

“On Friday we went fishing,” a post read on the nursing home’s Facebook page. “Thank you to Tractor Supply for loaning us the tank for the day and for the amazing staff we have at Creekwood. I have an idea and the team makes it [happen].”

One look at the photos from the day’s activity and it’s clear to see that the Creekwood residents were over the moon. And, as a result, the Internet was equally enamored with all the thought that went into the event.

“Some of these people probably haven’t [gotten] to fish in ages. Thanks to all who helped make this happen and God Bless,” one user wrote.

“I never thought watching people fish could make me cry, but this certainly did,” another commenter chimed in. “I come from a family where my parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles all loved fishing. Now they are all gone. So not only did this bring back precious memories, I am so touched at this gesture of thoughtfulness and kindness. Thank you!”

Of course, some Facebook commenters weren’t all too thrilled to see fish baited and hooked for fun. Creekwood took note of this, however, and let folks know that all the fish were caught with no-harm hooks and placed back in the tank before being re-homed at a local pond at the end of the day.

This isn’t the only summer fun the facility has planned. On Friday, August 14, residents will have the opportunity to partake in a petting zoo. Here’s to hoping it's just as enjoyable.
