Kenneth Ma wants to try LGBTQ movie

1 Dec – Although he is one of the lucky few who get to play various roles throughout his acting career, Kenneth Ma recently admitted that there is one role that he would like to be able to tackle in the future.

In an interview with Mingpao recently, the TVB actor stated that he has always been interested in movies with LGBTQ themes, and hopes that when his time finally comes to shine on the big screen, it would be something of that nature.

"I don't want it to be a romantic comedy. I want something serious like "Happy Together"," he said, referring to the 1997 Wong Kar Wai movie starring Tony Leung and Leslie Cheung. "I have played various roles for many years, but I never tried a gay character."

Asked if he would be okay doing intimate scenes with a male co-star, Kenneth said that it would not be a problem.

"The most important thing is that the script is well written and that the scenes would not be distasteful," he added.

As to which actor he would pick to play his partner if such a project could be realised, Kenneth named his good friend and fellow TVB actor Lai Lok Yi.

"We're familiar with each other, so there would be a tacit understanding," he added.
