Kelsey Grammer's actress daughter Spencer Grammer was slashed with a knife as she tried to break up a restaurant fight in New York on Friday night.
The 36-year-old screen star, most well known for her roles in animated sci-fi series Rick and Morty and hit college show Greek, was eating at The Black Ant in the East Village when a man who appeared to be drunk was turned away as he tried to get a table at the restaurant at about 11.30 pm.
When told he couldn't have a table, as the eatery was about to close, he launched into an "unhinged tailspin", onlookers told the New York Post's gossip column Page Six.
According to bystanders, the man began arguing with employees and several customers, when Spencer and her dinner partner, Jan Phillip Mueller, jumped out of their seats to try and diffuse the situation.
“Everyone jumped out of their seats. About 15 people maybe. Everyone was trying to pull them apart,” a witness, known only as David, told Page Six. “It looked like there was a full on brawl."
During the fracas, Grammer was slashed in the right forearm, while Mueller was caught in the back with a knife. They were taken to the nearby Bellevue Hospital, where they were treated for their injuries and discharged, according to police.
When officers arrived, about a minute later, the man - wearing a white shirt - had already run down Third Street.
Further details of the incident, including whether or not police managed to apprehend the knifeman, have yet to be confirmed.
Neither Spencer, nor her Frasier star dad Kelsey, have commented on the incident on their social media pages.
