Kelsey Grammer wants to return as X-Men’s Beast

‘X-Men’ star Kelsey Grammer still wants to play Beast.

During an interview with Comicbook.com at New York Comic Con, the 61-year-old ‘X-Men’ actor revealed that he’d love to return as Hank McCoy - aka Beast.

“Of course I would,” he said when asked if he would return to the ‘X-Men’ franchise.

“Beast was a riot,” he added. “I think he was underused… I believe that they should have done another Beast movie, you know with my Beast.”

Of course, ‘X-Men’ fans will remember Kelsey Grammer’s appearance as the iconic blue-furred mutant in ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ - often considered the least favourite ‘X-Men’ film by the fans.

But that doesn’t mean his performance wasn’t spot on… and it resulted in his return to the franchise for a brief cameo in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’.

“It was great,” he told IGN about the cameo role. “I guess my ego was kind of hurt that they just decided to go back in time all of a sudden and Kelsey Grammer wasn’t Beast anymore… it really pissed me off [laughs]. I did have chance to talk to [director] Bryan [Singer] when I heard that there was this cameo when it was back in the time that I had been on X-Men 3. So I was delighted that he said ‘Yeah, what the hell’ so I had to fly out and go up on a secret plane… it was almost like being an X-Men.”

But will we see more of Kelsey Grammer’s Beast?

Set much further in the future, ‘Logan’ would seem like an ideal place to drop in on Beast. But with Professor X already making an appearance, it may be a bit of a cameo overload… that, and we have no idea what’s happened to Beast since the events of ‘Days of Future Past’.

Either way, Kelsey Grammer is up for it.
