Keke Palmer urges fans to push forward in 'wise' post: 'Don't give up'
Keke Palmer is sending out some motivation.
The 29-year-old posted an Instagram Reel this week of herself sharing an inspiring message to keep on pushing through life. The "Nope" and "Hustlers" actress shared her speech from a car, while looking stylish in a blue and yellow plaid shirt, large square multi-coloured glasses and wavy dark locks that "just came from the salon."
"Whatever that you're working on that you're creating, the thing that you're creating from scratch, it's your baby, it's something that you are building the blueprint for," the Illinois native shared. "Sometimes it gets spooky. You don't know all the answers. You feel like, 'Man, I don't know if this is going to work out.' You're kind of building it as you go because it's something that's coming from your heart — it's your vision. It's what God has put into your path.
"You have your support team, you have your people that you lean on, they're there for you, you guys are working together and ya'll holding each other up. But there are moments in time where you're just not going to know what to do next, and it doesn't seem immediately clear."
Palmer ended her message with a motivational reminder for her more than 11 million Instagram followers.
"Don't give up. That's all I want to say is, don't give up. Know that everything is going to come when it needs to come, and trust the divine timing of what it is for you," she explained. "Just don't give up, and I've got to tell myself, too."
In the caption to her video, the "Big Mouth" and "Human Resources" star also explained what prompted her to share her message.
"I have had a particularly anxious week. I've been working really hard on so many things, and my perfectionism is creeping in," Palmer revealed. "So, I reminded myself like I always do: There is never a perfect time, there is only a starting time. That doesn’t mean preparation and team work and strategy aren't important. It means at a certain point, you must know that faith and just trial and error are also a part of the process. So in reminding myself, I'm reminding you, to just go for it, let's put our best foot forward and let God carry us the rest of the way. Blessings!"
On the post, fellow celebrities and several fans shared their appreciation for Palmer's inspirational words, with many expressing their love for the actress and singer.
"Omggg .. I won't, Keke, I won't!! Love you, you're always on time," singer SZA wrote, while adding a red heart emoji. "Always being exactly who God sent you to be! Das why you blessed."
"Omggg, I needed to hear this. In this specific manner, caption included. Thank you!" rapper Bobby Lytes shared.
"Wow, wow," penned singer Chloe Bailey with a red heart emoji. "Thank you."
"Lauren, such a beautiful (and much needed) reminder right now! This is why we adore you, thank you. Never stop being you," raved a fan.
"Thank you, Keke! So wise! My lil' perfectionist self needed to hear this," someone commented.
"This! Trusting the process and having faith that the work, effort and love put into building/doing something new will not be in vain!" another added.
In July, Palmer opened up about dealing with "a lot of depression and anxiety" early in her career. She told British Vogue that those issues stemmed from "not being able to process my emotions" and "having so much responsibility at a young age," since she got her start in the industry at 10-years-old with a role in "Barbershop 2: Back in Business."
"I realized the power of positivity when I was fighting depression so young, before even knowing what I was fighting," the "True Jackson, VP" alum explained. "I thought, 'Well, if I make others laugh, I feel good. That’s enough for me to get through the day.'"
