Keanu Reeves doesn’t realise he’s the internet’s favourite person, according to his Bill & Ted Face the Music co-star Samara Weaving.

Reeves is in the midst of a career renaissance since starring in the title role in the John Wick franchise and his rabid fanbase have even campaigned for him to be named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year.

Weaving, who plays Bill’s daughter in the new movie, said she has never even seen Reeves use a smartphone, suggesting he’s not dialled in to his online fame.

“I don’t think he knows! I don’t think he’s aware,” Weaving told Yahoo Movies UK while promoting her leading role in horror movie Ready Or Not.

“He’s so humble and so sweet. I don’t think he’s aware of [the moment] at all.”

Weaving said it is “so sweet” that Reeves has come to be referred to as the “internet’s boyfriend”, but said it’s very unlikely he knows about the moniker.

She said: “I don’t think I’ve even seen him on a phone before. He’s such a gentleman. He’s beautiful.”

Set almost 30 years after Bill S. Preston (Alex Winter) and Theodore Logan (Reeves) were last seen on the big screen in Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, the film sees the duo warned by a messenger from the future that they have to create a special song to save the universe.

Weaving said she is excited for the film to see the light of day, but added she’s worried about the level of expectation.

“I can’t think about the audience’s anticipation for it too much because I get such bad anxiety,” said the 27-year-old star.

“I really hope that they like it because it has been years and, with that amount of pressure, I just don’t know.”

Weaving said she had “so much fun” on the film’s set, despite her anxiety about how fans will react to the finished product.

She said: “It was a blast to work with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter playing those characters again.

“The stakes are so high and I’m so nervous. I just hope I deliver what the fans want.”

Ready or Not is in UK cinemas from 25 September, while Bill & Ted Face the Music is due to be released in August 2020.
