Kean Cipriano and Chynna Ortaleza launch own record label
20 Aug – Kean Cipriano and wife Chynna Ortaleza are now the proud owners of their own record label, O/C Records.
As reported on Rappler, the husband and wife, who appeared at the launch alongside Viva Entertainment's Vic del Rosario, revealed that the idea of starting their own label came when Cipriano's band Callalily began producing their own music independently.
"We wanted a label that's artiste-friendly. Artists should have full creative control, because we're artists as well and we know how that feels. So when you're asked to do things that you're not necessarily into, especially when it comes to music, isn't that just a shame?" said Ortaleza.
The actress stated that they were lucky that their vision was understood by Viva, which decided to partner up with them.
The actress also stated that the project was, in a way, like having another baby.
"That's how it felt for me. It's another baby, although it's not human. It's the same effort. Seeing [the artistes] perform tonight, I was holding back tears. It's been a journey," she said.
For now, O/C have signed six artistes, including Cipriano himself.
