Katy Perry Gets Real About Her Biggest "Challenge" Since Becoming a Mom
Katy Perry gets real about her biggest challenges since becoming a mom to daughter Daisy.
Katy admitted to not getting enough sleep and feeling "desperate" for rest.
ICYMI, being a mom is no joke. Katy Perry recently got real about the challenges she's facing since becoming a mother to daughter Daisy. She chatted with Hugh Jackman and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, during the virtual Meditate America event on Dec. 3, about parenting with fiancé Orlando Bloom.
"I’m a new mother. My daughter—she’s such a gift—but there is sometimes a challenge concerning sleep! No matter how much support you have,” she told Hugh and Deborra-Lee. "But where am I going to get those six hours that I used to get? Where did it go?"
Katy continued to explain that transcendental meditation has helped her sleep. Transcendental meditation or "TM" is a specific form of silent mantra meditation. "There’s been so many different ways TM has blessed me, but in this particular moment, as a new mother, I take 20 minutes," she said. "Not only do I find the deepest rest that I need, that my body is desperate for—but it feels like I’ve stolen two plus hours, maybe three hours, from the clock.” she gushed, adding that it gives her the “deepest rest” when she's “desperate for as a reset."
Katy and Orlando announced the news of their baby girl on UNICEF via an article titled “The most precious gift: A healthy child.” They welcomed Daisy Dove Bloom on August 26 and since then, Orlando has dropped some details about the baby.
While talking with Ellen DeGeneres virtually during her show, Ellen mentioned that Katy had sent her a photo of Daisy and thought they looked alike—especially in the eyes. Orlando agreed and said, “But it was funny because when she first came out, I was like, ‘Oh, it’s me! It’s a mini-me.’ And then, fortunately, she got those Katy blues, which was perfect.”
He continued, “But then she sort of looks like my mom. So then I got a little confused because Katy’s breastfeeding this mini-me slash my mom… Who’s she gonna look like next?”
