The Duchess of Cambridge‘s former Chelsea home, which she shared with her younger sister Pippa Middleton, has gone on sale for £1.95m.

The three-bedroom flat was bought by Kate’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton in 2002 for £780,000 and could net them a profit of nearly £1.2m from the sale, according to The Times.

It has not been revealed why the Middletons have put the apartment up for sale, but it could have something to do with the fact that Kate has lived at Kensington Palace since her marriage to Prince William in 2011, while Pippa now lives with husband James Matthews in a £17m London mansion.

Their son James Middleton is believed to divide his time between the North, London and his parents home in Berkshire.

Kate moved into the townhouse after graduating from the University of St Andrews in 2005 and was regularly photographed coming and going, before she and William got engaged in 2010.

The Chelsea flat is spread across three floors and the master en suite on the the third boasts views onto Justice walk and over the old chimney pots of Old Chelsea. There are another two bedrooms with a family bathroom on the same floor.

The interiors are neutral, with splashes of red and prints in the double reception room.

Traditional furniture adorns the flat, with a vintage gold mirror in the dining room, behind a six-seater table, while oriental-style rugs add texture and a modern touch.

Kate was regularly spotted shopping on the Kings Road, a stone’s throw away from her London pad and it seems it was in a handy location for meeting up with then-boyfriend William – it’s just an eight minute drive to Kensington Palace.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge moved into Apartment 1A in 2013 after Prince George was born. The family of five live in the stunning 20-room home that has a view of Hyde Park.
