Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Karen Elson were among mourners at the funeral for photographer Peter Lindbergh on Tuesday.
The German photographer and film director, known for his portraits of models and celebrities, passed away earlier this month at the age of 74, and fashion stars flooded social media with tributes to him.
Lindbergh's funeral was held at the Church of Saint-Sulpice in Paris, France on Tuesday, during Paris Fashion Week, and many stars of the fashion and movie industry turned out to pay their respects and celebrate his life.
Other guests included Eva Herzigova, Lara Stone, Kaia Gerber, Gigi and Bella Hadid, U.S. Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, British Vogue's Edward Enninful and actors Bradley Cooper, Julianne Moore, Salma Hayek, Isabelle Huppert, and Milla Jovovich.
Taking to Instagram after the service, British model Elson wrote, "Today we gathered at St Sulpice to say farewell to our beloved Peter Lindbergh. The fashion community wept alongside Peter's family and friends and we remembered all that made Peter so undeniably luminous and with that we realised through his memory that flame will never be dimmed nor the human and profound impact he had upon us all large or small. He lived his life with purpose and joy and today reminded me to do the same. With the angels from now on. Rest in Peace."
In the comments, Oscar-winning actress Moore called the service "beautiful" and wrote that she was "lucky" to have known him. She later posted a picture of Lindbergh on her own Instagram page and wrote, "@realpeterlindbergh had a giant life - full of artistry and full of love. His impact was manifest in his creative output but most importantly in his beautiful family and many, many friends. Rest in Peace."
Meanwhile, Wintour called Tuesday a "sad day for the fashion world" and Enninful wrote, "Today we said goodbye to Peter Lindbergh, @therealpeterlindbergh a man dearly loved and respected by us all."
One of Lindbergh's last works was shooting the cover of British Vogue's September issue, which was guest-edited by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
