Kate Middleton Is "Very Sorry" to Miss the Third Annual Earthshot Awards
The third annual Earthshot Awards are taking place today—and Prince William will be walking the green carpet solo, as Kate Middleton stayed home in England. "Catherine is very sorry she can’t be here," Prince William said yesterday. "She is helping George through his first set of major exams."
Kensington Palace previously confirmed that Kate would not be traveling to Singapore due to Prince George's exams. Though they did not share what exams the 10-year-old prince would be taking, Eton College—where Prince William attended—requires prospective students to take a test during the autumn term of year six. George was spotted touring Eton this past spring, and is currently in his autumn term of year six.
Last year, the Princess of Wales stunned in a rented, bright green gown on the green carpet in Boston, accessorizing with an emerald choker that once belonged to Princess Diana. At the first Earthshot Awards, she recycled an old Alexander McQueen dress.
Though Kate won't be walking the green carpet, there will be numerous stars in attendance, including Cate Blanchett, Hannah Waddingham, Sterling K. Brown, and Lana Condor. Yesterday, Condor told Town & Country, "I am incredibly grateful and honored to be able to bring attention and awareness to the inspiring group of finalists who have made it their mission to provide innovative solutions for the repair and regeneration of our planet. I was really excited to get the opportunity to learn and be in the company of changemakers actively involved in various conservation efforts."
