Duchess of Cambridge hands out hugs as she takes over Queen's patronage

The Duchess of Cambridge handed out hugs at an engagement with youngsters, as she was announced as Patron of The Royal Photographic Society on Tuesday.

The patronage has been passed to Kate by the Queen who held the role for 67 years.

Kate, 37, joined children from one of her other charities Action for Children during a photography workshop at Warren Park in Kingston. The children’s charity is committed to helping vulnerable children and young people, and their families.

The session was run by Royal Photographic Society Honorary Fellows Jillian Edelstein and Harry Borden and covered various elements of photography such as portraits, light and colour.

The duchess shared a touching moment with 15-year-old Faith Olukoya during the engagement.

Faith’s mother Zainab Olukoya told Yahoo UK that her daughter was excited to meet the royal and that it was a “huge honour.”

Kate also spent time with Josh Evans, nine, from Liverpool talking to him about his new found love of photography.

Wearing a summery paisley print tea dress with her Castaner espadrille wedges and Catherine Zoraida earrings, the duchess also posed for a group shot with the youngsters after the workshop session.

The duchess has a longstanding interest in photography and wants to highlight how art and creativity can benefit children and young people’s emotional wellbeing.

She may be one of the most photographed women in the world but the mum-of-three is no stranger behind the lens either. Kate regularly takes the official portraits of her children to mark special occasions.

In April, she shared three new images of her youngest child Prince Louis playing outside their Norfolk Anmer Hall for his first birthday and new snaps of Princess Charlotte to mark her fourth birthday in May.

No doubt the duchess will pick up her camera again to snap eldest child Prince George for his sixth birthday on July 22.
