Karen Elson 'nicked' her lucky pair of shoes from a photoshoot

Karen Elson will never let go of the pair of shoes she once "nicked" from a photoshoot.

The British supermodel rose to fame in the 1990s, when her red hair and chiselled cheekbones caught the attention of designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, and Marc Jacobs.

Reflecting on the early days of her career while taking British Vogue on a tour of the wardrobe inside her Nashville, Tennessee home for a new video, Karen picked up a pair of Miu Miu stilettos featuring large sequins and shared that they were the "first pair of shoes she ever nicked".

But taking to Instagram later, the star clarified that she was able to keep the sparkly footwear.

"Disclaimer: all the models took the shoes after runway shows back then, we did ask, but before they could answer we were usually out the door," she explained.

Karen went on to note that the high heels proved to be "lucky", as she was wearing them when she met late musician Prince.

"He grabbed a hold of me to ask me where my shoes came from...yes, these shoes are my version of ruby slippers," the 41-year-old insisted.

Elsewhere in the clip, Karen showed off her collection of prints and kitchen, and also headed back to the place where she grew up - Oldham, Greater Manchester. As well as meeting up with her father, the model caught up with model agent Debra Burns, who discovered her at the age of 16.

"Whenever you come back home, it always makes you reflect on the scope of your life. Looking at me as a young woman and seeing myself in that environment... wide-eyed and naive and so excited... it was a dream... it was thrilling," she mused. "Despite challenges in life, I wouldn't change a thing."
