3 Feb – Although her new movie, "Sunshine of My Life" is directed by new filmmaker Judy Chu, Kara Hui stated that she was confident enough with the story to say yes to the project.

As reported on Mingpao, the award-winning actress, who spoke about the project recently, shared that she was deeply touched upon reading the script of the movie - which revolves around the love-hate relationship between a young woman (Karena Ng) and her blind parents (played by Kara and Hugo Ng).

"The character of the mother is very positive. Despite her blindness, she takes care of her family, raised her daughter well, and is not afraid of being laughed at. She is a very optimistic and determined character," she said.

Kara stated that she even had a meeting with Judy prior to filming, and found out that the story was based on the director's own family life.

"She wrote the script herself and was very confident to direct it so that she can control everything freely," she said, adding that she decided to do the movie in order to support new filmmakers like Judy.

The actress also expressed hope that by watching the movie, more people will understand the hardships faced by the neglected segments of society.

"There are many inspirational stories among these people. They are self-reliant and have the perseverance not to bow to fate," she said.
