Kara Hui to receive AFA Excellence in Asian Cinema award

17 Jan – Kara Hui's winning streak continues as she has recently been named the recipient of this year's Excellence in Asian Cinema Award at the Asian Film Awards.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who was asked about the honour at the AFA press conference recently, stated that she felt undeserving of the award as she has yet to give her best performance in her career, but that she is also happy with the recognition.

"When I received the notification last week, I even asked the event if the award is only given to seasoned actors. But I am honoured, and I will work harder and be better so not to disappoint everybody," she said.

Kara also stated that the said award is special since it's not just about acting.

She also revealed that she has been invited by Anthony Wong and Louis Koo to give a talk about films, but admitted that she was afraid of misguiding students, thus she would like to have more time to prepare before teaching an acting class.

"But if people want to ask me about my acting method privately, I don't mind sharing at all," she said.

Last year, it was singer-actress Sammi Cheng who was honoured with the said award.
